Dr Bernarda Majc and Katarina Fras won Krka Prizes 2023

On Friday, 20 October 2023, the pharmaceutical company Krka awarded young researchers with Krka Prizes for undergraduate and postgraduate research theses.

At the ceremony, 33 young researchers were selected, including two researchers from the Department of Genetic Toxicology and Cancer Biology at the National Institute of Biology.

The recipients are:
  • Dr. Bernarda Majc for her PhD thesis entitled »Advanced glioblastoma models to study tumour microenvironment and to support novel glioblastoma therapeutics«, supervised by Prof. Dr. Tamara Lah Turnšek and Assist. Prof. Dr. Metka Novak;
  • Katarina Fras for her Master's thesis entitled »Cytotoxic and genotoxic activity of bisphenol A and its analogues«, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bojana Žegura and Dr. Martina Štampar.

The Krka's Prizes are aimed at encouraging young people to take up science.
