Today we hosted a high-level delegation from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL)at the National Institute. The meeting was opened by Dr. Tomaž Boh, Director General of the Directorate for Science and Innovation at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.
At the event, which was attended by Slovenian scientists and professionals from the field of life sciences, we were introduced to the wide range of activities offered by EMBL membership, including its laboratory facilities. Examples of best practice from comparable European countries that are already EMBL members were also presented.
There was also an important discussion among Slovenian scientists in the field of life sciences. The discussion provides a valuable starting point for the preparation of the Slovenian "Research Infrastructure Development Plan"," which will serve as a substantive basis for the decision on our future membership in EMBL.
