Short biography:

Andrej Čokl was born in Ljubljana (Slovenia) where he finished his PhD studies at the University of Ljubljana in 1977.  His postdoctoral studies were conducted at the Philipps-University Marburg (Germany) by the financial support of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Since 1974 he is permanently employed at the National Institute of Biology as researcher and from 1988 to 1996 as director of the National Institute of Biology. Since 1992 he is the Head of Department of Entomology.

Prof. Andrej Čokl is teaching at Universities of Ljubljana, Maribor and Nova Gorica. He is a member of the Royal Entomological Society of London, The Entomological Society of Brazil, The New York Academy of Science, National Geographic Society and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
