Invitation to the NIB Proficiency Test 2016-02
Proficiency test is a way in which competence of laboratories is assessed and demonstrated. In proficiency testing standardized samples are prepared with known status regarding the presence of harmful organisms. These are sent out to participating laboratories that analyze them using their own methods, equipment and reagents and send results back to the organiser. The organiser analyzes the results and provides a report detailing all participants’ results in confidential manner together with actual sample status.
After a very successful proficiency test for detection of bacteria causing bacterial wilt and fire blight in the last year with twenty international participants, this proficiency test is intended for molecular detection Xylella fastidiosa, ‘Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum’, flavescence dorée phytoplasma and ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma solani’ (Bois noir phytoplasma).
The test is organized in accordance with the EPPO 7/122 guidelines. Please note that the samples contain DNA only and are not suitable for analysis with tests other than molecular tests.
The expected timeline is:
• Samples sent out in the week of October 10-14, 2016
• Results to be delivered by December 2, 2016
• Reports on performance sent by January 20, 2017
Should you be interested in participating, please register by completing the form and return it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by October 6th, 2016.
We can accept up to 30 participants for each organism/organism group. In case of more interest the participating laboratories are selected on first come first served basis. Feel free to forward this notice further.
As part of our research projects digital PCR is used to quantify the target concentrations in the materials. If interest in collaboration in this area, please, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
