The Department of Biotechnology and Systems Biology of the National Institute of Biology has hosted the COST Action FA1405 Annual Meeting and Systems Biology Training School from January 31st until February 2nd. The COST Action FA1502 connects researchers working on Crop-Arthropod-Microbe (CAMo) interactions with the aim to enhance crop protection and production. More than 80 domestic and foreign researchers gathered at the meeting. The plenary special of the meeting was on systems biology approaches to identify mechanisms underlying CAMo interactions. Among others, three esteemed invited speakers shared the latest scientific advances in the field, Dr Fumiaki Katagiri from University of Minnesota, Dr Saskia van Wees from Utrecht University and Dr Emmanuel Gaquerel from Heidelberg University.

The meeting was followed by a hands-on training school entitled “Systems biology approaches to multi-way interactions” co-organised by the National Institute of Biology and Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana.

The official web page of the meeting is available at the web page http://conferences.nib.si/camo2017.
