Video presentation of the book »Coastal Ecosystems in Transition«
As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Piran Marine Biological Station of the National Institute of Biology, the book »Coastal Ecosystems in Transition: A Comparative Analysis of the Northern Adriatic and Chesapeake Bay« (2021) was published by Wiley, AGU Geophysical Monograph Series.
The book provides a new analysis of the two ecosystems previously presented in the 1999 book »Ecosystems at the Land-Sea Margin: Drainage Basin to Coastal Sea« (AGU Series Coastal and Estuarine Studies). The two books are the result of collaboration between researchers from the United States and researchers from Slovenia, Croatia, and Italy.
The basic goal of comparing the two ecosystems was to present scientific findings on the effects of human activities on the coastal sea to the broader scientific research community and other stakeholders, especially those responsible for environmental protection.
Therefore, as part of the project of the National committee for IOC-UNESCO (NO IOC), they created a film summarising the content of each chapter of the new book presented by the authors of these chapters.
