The project aims to fulfill some of the key tasks from the three-year Community Science Plan (Plant Sciences Community | ELIXIR (elixir-europe.org)) of the European infrastructure ELIXIR (https://f1000research.com/documents/10-145). The aim of the community is to develop an infrastructure that supports the integration and linkage of phenotypic, genotypic, *omics (e.g. expression, metabolomic, ...) and bibliographic data. The aim of the community is to promote tools, databases, standards and best practices for plant research.
Within the project we will assemble a set of tools and take care of their dissemination through educational and other service packages. The target audience is biologists, agronomists and bioinformaticians who create and analyze data.
Another part of the activity is to improve the ability to search for data. We will establish an improved unified European portal that will provide access to plant data and tools in collaboration with the Data Platform. It will use the existing resources of ELIXIR: Plant databases (FAIDARE, Ensemble Plant, InterMine) and collections of tools and standards (FAIRsharing, bio.tools).
Finally, the collection and creation of data and metadata increasingly relies on community-driven tools such as FAIRDOM / Seek, COPO and ISA-Tools. There is an opportunity to improve their interoperability through harmonized validation profiles and the use of APIs to facilitate the submission of ELIXIR databases.
Within the project, NIB is leading Work Package 1 - Assembling services and tools through ELIXIR service packages and their promotion to users
Work package 1 aims to increase the practicality of tools for studies in plant sciences and to promote their dissemination. The service package ELIXIR (Services | ELIXIR (elixir-europe.org))combines a set of tools and protocols to perform specific steps of data analysis or data processing and documents them including the training available in the electronic training modules (TeSS - Training eSupport System e.g. ChIP-seq workflow) (https://tess.elixir-europe.org/workflows). In this way we can promote, reach and disseminate the best practices recommended by our community.
Task 1.1: Create service packages from existing tools
Task 1.2: Prepare training materials for plant service packages
The project is funded by ELIXIR and co-funded by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports.
