The overall objectives of the proposed bilateral research collaboration are to: jointly assess the status and distribution of brown algal forests in the eastern part of the northern Adriatic, identify new signs and possibly quantify the pressures affecting their decline, and exchange the knowledge on different cultivation techniques for Cystoseira s.l. (especially for Gongolaria barbata. Through this collaboration, we also intend to jointly test some restoration actions, and propose conservation measures to ensure healthy coastal ecosystems, by implementing health management strategies for Cystoseira s.l. spp. based on their adaptability to anthropogenic/natural pressures and climate change.
