Workshop in the frame of European reference laboratory for viruses, viroids and phytoplasmas.

Between 16 and 19th of June we held a live webinar and workshop, in the frame of European reference laboratory for viruses, viroids and phytoplasmas. Representatives of national reference laboratories from 23 European countries got familiar with the diagnostics procedures at NIB. The main focus was diagnostics of Flavescence dorée phytoplasma, which causes incurable disease on grapevine. The lecturer Nataša Mehle guided attendees through the whole path of the sample: sampling in the field, preparation of the sample, DNA isolation and detection methods. Despite COVID-19 restrictions, prohibiting meeting on-site, the training was a great success.
