SHORT CV
I graduated at the Faculty for chemistry and chemical technology at the University in Ljubljana in 1983. I also finished my M.Sc. in 1985 and my Ph.D. in 1994 at the same faculty. After a short period of work in a chemical company I started to work as a researcher at the National institute of biology-Marine biology station in Piran. From 1998 to 2000 I spent 6 months at the University Blaise Pascal in Clermont Ferrand in France.
FIELD OF RESEARCH
My main research field is the study of organic matter (natural and pollutants) cycling in marine environment. The major part of my work is oriented towards their degradation, with an emphasis on the photochemical degradation. A part of this work is also dedicated to the advanced oxidation processes, which are important for the degradation of different pollutants in waste waters. Moreover, they are also important in the natural marine environment.
Beside my recearch activity I am also a professor at the Faculty of maritime studies and transportation (University of Ljubljana). The subjects are connected to environmental protection and marine pollution.
