On Monday, 9th February 2015 we opened the exhibition 'BIOGENIC FORMATIONS IN SLOVENIAN COASTAL SEA' at the Marine Biology Station, Fornace 41, Piran.
Strong wind blows new records
New data, close to historical records were recorded due to yesterday's weather:
Underwater camera not working
The last southern wind at the end of the week detached the connector cables on an already obsolete cable, connecting our underwater camera with the receiveng computer. The galvanization of connectors to a new cable is ongoing and will hopefully be finished soon.

The Ocean Sampling Day 2014 - a global scientific effort to study our ocean

Invitation to the lecture by Prof. Mark Peter Simonds
The lecture will take place on Friday, the 12th September 2014, at 16 p.m. in the Lecture Hall of the Marine Biology Station - NIB on 2nd floor. "Whaling and the International Whaling Commission - a personal view". Prof. Mark Peter Simmonds, Veterinary School of the University of Bristol and Humane Society International.
Ocean sampling day - OSD
Scientists at the Marine Biology Station Piran, National Institute of Biology on the Slovenian coast joined researchers around the globe in a worldwide Ocean sampling day (OSD) on 21st of June 2014. Ocean Sampling Day is the first global, simultaneous sampling of microbes in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes waters.
